The first Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament of the year for the Bayou City Division was held on Lake Somerville on Sept. 28, and the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Bass Fishing Team kicked off the year with a good start. Corey Calvert and Tyler Husband took 3rd place overall with five fish weighing-in at 15.02 pounds, and the team of Karsen Clark and Corbin Atkinson placed 11th with 11.68 pounds. Other COHS teams included Weston Davidson and Hunter Thomas weighing-in three fish for 8.38 pounds, Karsen Clark and Aubrey Heflin weighing-in three fish for 6.11 pounds, and Payton Dill weighing-in one fish for 2.60 pounds.
The October tournament was held on Lake Livingston last Saturday, Oct. 19, and the boys continued to shine. Corey Calvert and Tyler Husband placed 2nd with a total of 13.09 pounds of fish weighed-in. They won a $500 scholarship each, along with other awards and prizes. Karsen Clark and Aubrey Heflin placed 4th with 10.12 pounds. Hayden Richardson and Brenden Ogletree placed 21st with 4.6 pounds, and Weston Davidson and Hunter Thomas placed 38th with 2.24 pounds.
The next THSBA tournament is scheduled for November 9th at Lake Sam Rayburn, with the weigh-in taking place at Cassel Boykin.
