COCISD Elections Information
COCISD School Board Election:
As a result of the Proclamation by Governor Greg Abbott allowing local political subdivisions to postpone the May 2, 2020 election until November 3, 2020, the COCISD Board of Trustees has chosen to postpone the May 2, 2020 Trustee Election (see the below notice: Order of Postponement of May 2, 2020 Trustee Election). The major relevant dates for the November election are:
- Voter registration deadline: October 5, 2020
- The deadline to submit an Application for Ballot By Mail (ABBM): October 23, 2020
- Dates for early voting: October 19-October 30, 2020
The COCISD Board of Trustees will take action no later than August 17, 2020 to make necessary changes to the original Order of Election.
School Board Elections
The COCISD Board of Trustees consists of seven members who are elected by position to serve for three-year terms. This is a non-paid position. Elections are held annually on the May uniform election date.
Positions #1 and #2 shall be held in 2021, 2024, 2027 and in three-year intervals thereafter.
Positions #3 and #4 shall be held in 2022, 2025, 2028 and in three-year intervals thereafter.
Positions #5, #6, and #7 shall be held in 2020, 2023, 2026, and in three year intervals thereafter.
Candidate Eligibility Requirements
Each candidate must meet the requirements as outlined in COCISD Policy BBA(LEGAL), and must file a completed application for a place on the ballot before the posted deadline.
Eligible candidates may submit their application for a place on the ballot in person at the Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Administration office located at 14210, SH 150 West, in Coldspring, or by mail to COCISD, attn: Cindy Elliott, PO Box 39, Coldspring, TX 77331. Applications must be filed no later than the end date posted on the Notice of Deadline to File Applications for place on the Ballot.
