COCISD Bond Background
After a series of facility assessments, CTE and curriculum studies, and community and staff surveys and meetings, the COCISD Board of Trustees voted to call for a bond election to be held in November of 2017. Based on the gathered data and information, a total bond package of $19,800,000 was placed on the ballot in two proposals, with $18,510,000 allocated for new construction and facility improvements. The proposals were approved by voters on November 7, 2017.
The bond election was called to update and improve facilities, to replace portable buildings with solid classrooms, to modernize science labs and classrooms, and to add a single-point entrance to the high school with a wing addition to provide facilities for Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses with industry-recognized certifications. It also added a bus loop at the elementary school to relieve traffic for parents of car riders, and a new elementary playground.
