Teacher Incentive Allotment Overview

Recognition and Reward for Excellence in Teaching

  • The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 to provide a realistic pathway for top-performing teachers to earn higher salaries and help retain and attract highly effective teachers.

Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD is part of Cohort F and will submit our TIA application in April 2023. COCISD will work with a committee to develop the local designation system to be approved by the Texas Education Agency.

If COCISD’s application is approved, the district will spend the 2023-2024 school year gathering teacher performance data and student growth data to submit to Texas Tech University, TEA's partner in this statewide project. By Fall 2024, TEA will notify COCISD of final designation and allotment. By August 2025, funds will be issued to eligible teachers.

The exact amount of increased compensation available to each teacher is dependent on a formula determined at the state level, which also takes into account the number of students who are economically disadvantaged. As well, the COCISD spending plan dictates how the dollars will be distributed. You can learn more at  tiatexas.org.
