About me:
Howdy! I am Nelson Hairgrove and I am a first year teacher here at Lincoln Jr High. I am a former Houston Police Officer, Navy Sailor and Army Infantryman. I have traveled to many places in the world, Ireland, Germany, Djibouti, Kuwait and other fantastic places. I have lived in Iceland and have deployed to Iraq. I have seen the Euphrates river from the window of a helicopter and explored the ruins of a Viking farmhouse at Stong near Reykjavik. I have trained many soldiers to do their jobs, including Iraqis and Ugandans. I have spent the last year on a deployment to Somalia with the US Army. But my favorite place and favorite people are here in Texas.
My Teaching Philosophy:
Every student deserves the best education that I can provide. Every student is capable of succeeding. My goal is to help students develop a tool set that will lead them to success in all that they do. Lincoln Jr High embraces the philosophy of Servant Leadership. I wholeheartedly embrace this philosophy. I look forward to exploring the history of our great state with each and every one of you.
Come on in, sit down and let's learn something!

San Antonio Missions National Park Service
After 10,000 years, the people of South Texas found their cultures, their very lives under attack. In the early 1700s Apache raided from the north, deadly diseases traveled from Mexico, and drought lingered. Survival lay in the missions. By entering a mission, they foreswore their traditional life to become Spanish, accepting a new religion and pledging fealty to a distant and unseen king.
