It is my honor and privilege to have your child in my classroom this year. Congratulations on having them identified as an exceptional learner who can benefit from extended lessons in a differentiated environment. This is my 14th year teaching, and this will be my third year to serve as the GT/ACE teacher. Every year brings something different. And like the students, I never stop learning!
My role is to serve their educational needs and push them to think outside the box. This means that we incorporate many unusual activities while engaging in enriched curriculum. While in my classroom, students will experience:
*STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) Activities and Challenges
*Critical Thinking Exercises
*Both Cooperative & Individualized Learning Skills
*Opportunities to Use Creative and Talented Gifts
Surprisingly, this does NOT mean extra work for your child. There is always adequate time provided in my room for students to complete assigned tasks. However, you may find that your child continues to WANT to extend their learning at home, and place even more emphasis on projects, simply for the satisfaction of gaining wisdom. Nothing thrills me more! There are no numerical grades assigned to the tasks we perform in this classroom, though expectations are high.
