From the desk of
COCISD Superintendent Dr. Leland R. Moore
Welcome back! We are excited to enter another year of Creating Opportunities for All, and we are moving forward with that goal in mind. I consider it a privilege and an honor to re-emphasize our vision, share our progress, and lead the journey through the 2018-19 school year with a pledge of excellence in all of our endeavors. Our focus this year will remain centered on academics, campus safety, and upgrading facilities to offer each student the best educational experience possible.
As we begin the year, vast improvements are underway around the district in a variety of areas.
Teacher retention has increased, which will translate into growth in student achievement. COCISD educators are being equipped and prepared to push the rigor in our classrooms to help students progress. The foundation of discipline has been laid, and students are learning appropriate classroom behavior.
It is our daily priority to make sure students and staff make it home safely. COCISD has been at the forefront as trailblazers in campus safety. Many of the governor’s 40-point safety plan measures were already actively in place in our district. We will continue to monitor and improve these security measures as needed.
As promised, construction projects began in the spring and are rapidly moving forward on every campus. I want to personally thank each and every one of you, for your vote of confidence and trust last November. The sacrifices you have made will provide modern, up-to-date facilities that are going to ensure our graduates enter a competitive workforce with marketable skills. As I always say, it’s your kids, your school, and your money.
The student handbooks and code of conduct are located on our district website at www.cocisd.org > Resources > for Parents. If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact your child’s campus principal. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, students need support both at home and at school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.
It’s a great day to be a Trojan!
