COCISD Child Nutrition Department earns Best of the Bunch Award

For the second year in a row, the COCISD Child Nutrition Department has earned Best of the Bunch in the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA's) Local Products Challenge. The Local Products Challenge encourages school nutrition departments to incorporate more Texas products into meals, and to teach children about healthy lifestyles and Texas agriculture. The COCISD Child Nutrition team earned the award by meeting the highest standards of the challenge.

Black History Month Profile of the Week: Bill Robinson

This week's profile is on a man who transcended racial prejudice and barriers in the entertainment industry in ways that had never happened before. Bill Robinson was a tap dancer and actor who paved the way for future entertainers such as Sammy Davis Jr. and Gregory Hines. His legacy of courage, generosity, and love lives on through the dancers he mentored and inspired.

Coldspring-Oakhurst High School introduces "Blazing Peformers" attendance incentive

Starting this semester, COHS has partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings to participate in its “Blazing Performer” program as an attendance incentive. Every three weeks, each high school student with two or less tardies and no absences is entered into a drawing for a “Blazing Performers” certificate, good for a free food item at Buffalo Wild Wings. One certificate is given away for each grade. Winners are announced during lunches.

In Loving Memory of LJH Resource/RTI Teacher Debra Crocker

Our COCISD community suffered the loss of one of our own on Feb. 2, Lincoln Junior High Resource/RTI Teacher Debra Crocker. Ms. Crocker was an outstanding teacher who cared very deeply about the success and well-being of each and every one of her students. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Crocker’s friends and family, and to the LJH campus. "Ms. Crocker was an excellent teacher, a happy person, and a real asset to our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Leland Moore. “She will be greatly missed.”
