During the first part of the day, students attended 12 different sessions with guest speakers who represented a variety of careers. Professionals from health/science-related fields, emergency management agencies, SHECO, the manufacturing and banking industries, and more made presentations and fielded questions from the students.
"The sessions were based on the 16 career clusters they can explore in high school, college, or trade schools," said Patrick.
Students received booklets to take notes from each session, including the name of the profession, average salary, description of the workday, education required, types of equipment used, skill-sets required, work attire, and top employers for the profession. The second half of the day, students returned to their classrooms to discuss the notes they had taken and what they had learned.
It was definitely a day to remember. Thanks to all who came out to share their careers with our students!
