COCISD police officers receive promotion

Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD Police Chief Roosevelt Joseph promoted three COCISD police officers on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

“With the enlargement of the department, (the promotion) was needed to establish a chain of command,” said Chief Joseph. “We now have seven full time and three part-time officers. This enables us to have at least one officer on each campus at all times, for maximum security.”

At the ceremony on Wednesday, Officer Lydia Richard was promoted to Lieutenant and will now be second in command; Officer Charles “Chuck” Cotton was promoted to Sergeant and will be in charge of the part-time officers; and Officer Rae Phillips was promoted to Corporal.

“Our main purpose is to protect the district – including students, everyone who works here, and anyone who visits a campus – and to eliminate fear,” said Chief Joseph. “Students and their families can be confident they are safe, so they can concentrate on getting a good education.”
