COCISD welcomes new campus principals
Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD is proud to introduce two new campus principals for the 2018-19 school year. Frank Brown joins us as the new principal of Lincoln Junior High School, and LJH Assistant Principal Paula McClendon will serve as principal of James Street Elementary and Coldspring Intermediate School.
Brown brings 12 years of experience as a teacher and campus administrator, and is coming from Fort Bend ISD. He was born and raised in Crockett and attended Sam Houston State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Brown became the first African American juvenile probation officer for Houston County, and served eight years as a juvenile probation officer for the Texas Youth Commission before he made a career change in 2006 to become an educator. He is married with three children, and he and his family are active members of Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.
“I am extremely excited to be back in the East Texas area where the people are friendly, caring and kind. The old saying is true - you can take the boy out the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy,” said Brown. “As principal of Lincoln Junior High, I am here to serve the students first, parents, staff and community. I am truly humble and grateful for this opportunity.”
McClendon is a member of the Coldspring community. She attended public school in COCISD and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in English from Sam Houston State University. McClendon began her teaching career at Livingston ISD, but eventually came home to COCISD where she has spent the past 15 years serving as a teacher and administrator. After completing her master’s degree in 2014, McClendon was promoted to assistant principal at Lincoln Junior High, where she has done an outstanding job. She says she is looking forward to the adventures of her new role as the JSE/CIS principal.
COCISD welcomes Frank Brown and Paula McClendon into their new roles and we look forward to a great year of excellence in education and Creating Opportunities!
