Our COCISD Band program competed at the 2019 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest at Caney Creek High School on April 15-16.
For the second consecutive year, the COHS Band received a Superior 1st Division rating in Sight Reading. This is the second 1st Division rating this year, after the marching band earned a 1st Division rating in the fall.
The LJH Symphonic Band also received a Superior 1st Division rating for the second year in a row, and had the best Concert stage scores out of all the ATSSB middle schools for the region. The LJH Concert Band earned a rating of Excellent in Sight Reading. LJH is the only ATSSB middle school to have two competitive ensembles.
“The success of the band program is due to the dedication and work ethic of our band students and continued community support," said LJH Band Director Suzanne Charney.
The Band Program has shown tremendous growth over the past four years under the leadership of LJH Band Director Suzanne Charney, COHS Band Director Trent Graves and Assistant Band Director Isabel Talley.
