Dr. Bryan Taulton, Superintendent

Dr. Taulton

Before being chosen to lead COCISD, Dr. Bryan Taulton served as the superintendent of Goodrich ISD, bringing to the district a laser focus on heightening student achievement, strengthening school-community relations and engagement, maintaining open lines of communication with all school community members, and renovating and modernizing district facilities to preserve its rich history and reinforce its infrastructure for the future.

As a data and results-driven instructional leader with in-depth knowledge of school reform strategies, Dr. Taulton wholeheartedly believes that the most important work in any education organization must be centered around what happens in the classroom, as time is the most valuable resource and obtaining a high-quality education is the great equalizer for humanity. Campuses must have dynamic principals who are sound instructional leaders and students must have access to the best teachers, every day, to ensure they acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in subsequent grades, courses, and post-secondary settings.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, at a very young age Bryan developed an unwavering desire for educational merit, which has been a driving force in his professional practice and success as an educator. As a servant leader, his educational leadership philosophy and daily objective centers upon being overtly immersed in doing whatever it takes to help both students and teachers excel in the classroom.

Dr. Taulton is a product of the Houston Independent School District. Upon graduation from Jack Yates Senior High School in 2001, he attended Texas Southern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 2005. A few years after earning his bachelor’s degree and beginning his career as an educator, he furthered his education by earning a Master of Education Degree in Education Administration from Concordia University-Texas in 2009. In 2014, he attained a Doctorate Degree in Professional Educational Leadership from the University of Houston at just 31 years of age.

Dr. Taulton has 17 years of professional experience in public education and has served as a teacher, assistant principal, junior high principal, high school principal, and assistant superintendent before serving as the superintendent of Goodrich ISD. Dr. Taulton also teaches graduate courses at Houston Christian University in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, specializing in School Law, School Business Management and Finance, Instructional Leadership & Evaluation, and Interpersonal Communication and Public Relations.

Dr. Taulton is the proud father of two daughters, Brylee and Channing, and enjoys professional writing, traveling, listening to jazz music, and watching sports in his spare time.

As a true life-long learner who is extremely passionate about enriching and shaping the lives of students through education, Dr. Taulton is committed to having a profound impact on the COCISD school community by fulfilling his mission to lay the foundation and lead the charge to educate and inspire students to achieve academic excellence, having them understand that acquiring a proper education opens the door to endless possibilities. As an ambitious executive school leader who leads with a sense of urgency, Dr. Taulton looks forward to working in partnership with the COCISD School Board, parents & guardians/families, faculty & staff, local business owners, and all other community members to advocate for, invest in, and make decisions that are always in the best interest of and centered around the needs of students. Let us work together to fulfill the vision and mission of the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District.
