Meet Dr. Taulton

Dr. Bryan Taulton, Superintendent

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prior to his appointment as superintendent of Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District (COCISD), Dr. Bryan Taulton served as superintendent of Goodrich ISD, where he brought exceptional focus to student achievement, community engagement, transparent communication, and strategic facility improvements that honor the district's heritage while building for the future.

Dr. Taulton is a data-driven instructional leader with extensive expertise in school reform strategies. He believes deeply that the most critical work in education happens in the classroom, where time is our most precious resource and quality education serves as society's great equalizer. His leadership philosophy centers on ensuring campuses have dynamic principals who are strong instructional leaders and that students have access to exceptional teachers every day, preparing them with the knowledge and skills essential for success in advanced coursework and post-secondary opportunities.

A Houston native, Dr. Taulton developed his passion for educational excellence at an early age, a driving force that continues to shape his professional practice and success as an educator. As a servant leader, his daily mission focuses on being fully committed to helping both students and teachers excel in the classroom.

Educational Background

Dr. Taulton is a proud product of the Houston Independent School District, graduating from Jack Yates Senior High School in 2001. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas Southern University in 2005, followed by a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University-Texas in 2009. In 2014, at age 31, he completed his Doctorate in Professional Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.

Professional Experience

With 19 years of experience in public education, Dr. Taulton has served in multiple leadership roles, including teacher, assistant principal, junior high principal, high school principal, and assistant superintendent, before becoming superintendent of Goodrich ISD. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Houston Christian University's College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, teaching graduate courses in School Law, School Business Management and Finance, Instructional Leadership & Evaluation, and Interpersonal Communication and Public Relations.

Personal Life

Dr. Taulton is the proud father of two daughters, Brylee and Channing. In his free time, he enjoys professional writing, traveling, listening to jazz music, and watching sports.

As a lifelong learner passionate about enriching students' lives through education, Dr. Taulton is committed to making a profound impact on the COCISD community. His mission is to lay the foundation and lead the charge in educating and inspiring students to achieve academic excellence, helping them understand that quality education opens doors to endless possibilities.

Dr. Taulton leads with urgency and looks forward to partnering with the COCISD School Board, families, faculty and staff, local business leaders, and all community members to advocate for, invest in, and make decisions that consistently prioritize student needs and interests. Together, we will fulfill the vision and mission of the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District.
