In order to be considered for a substitute position, an online application must be completed with authorization for a criminal history background check. A previous arrest does not automatically prevent someone from being hired. Circumstances, the nature of the offense, and the amount of time passed since the offense occurred are taken into consideration.
Note: In accordance with state legislation SB9 Fingerprinting, all substitutes must be fingerprinted through TEA before they begin employment in a Texas school district. If you have already been fingerprinted by another school district, you are not required to be fingerprinted again. If you have not been fingerprinted by a school district, you will receive fingerprinting instructions after your application has been processed.

Substitute Teachers
Anyone interested in being a COCISD substitute teacher this year, whether new or returning, will be required to attend the Substitute Teacher Training at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at the Jones Auditorium, located at 125 FM 1514 in Coldspring.
New Substitute Teachers
If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher, in addition to the training, you will need to complete the online application for Substitute Teacher HERE. (Be sure to include a current email address. This is how you will be contacted). Bring the following documents to the training:
A copy of your driver's license and social security card.
A copy of your proof of education such as a GED, High School diploma, or college transcripts.
A voided check to arrange direct deposit of your paychecks.
The willSub system will manage all substitute teacher assignments.
All calls to substitutes will be made through willSub from 5:30 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. and/or 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Substitutes may accept or decline offers. willSub will not function with answering machines. Repeated attempts will be made to contact substitutes until the job is filled.
willSub also allows substitutes to search for available assignments, designate preferred days, grade levels, or subjects, and schedule off-duty days. All willSub user names and passwords are confidential and should not be shared with anyone else. Shared passwords could result in missed work opportunities and/or errors in payroll.
