COCISD's G/T Process

  • Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD’s Advanced Academics Services Program for Gifted and Talented Students

Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD’s Advanced Academics Services program for gifted and talented students, is designed to meet the special needs of gifted and talented students through the implementation of a differentiated curriculum.  The K-5 program includes the development of critical thinking skills in enriched lessons covering the TEKS and is  delivered using small group instruction within the regular classroom  by G/T Certified teachers.  Second, it utilizes a weekly pullout program where Texas Performance Standard Projects (TPSP) are used to guide and cultivate research, product development, and presentation skills in each of the G/T students, facilitated by a trained and certified campus G/T Advisor. The G/T delivery model used by secondary students will include advanced level rigor in all core classes through Honors, AP, and Dual Credit courses delivered by G/T or/or AP certified teachers.  They will also be serviced by a trained and certified campus advisor for Advanced Academics.   By providing a G/T certified teacher for each G/T student to help mentor and monitor their progress throughout the year, COCISD will provide more social emotional support and guidance to each student as they nurture their gifts and talents and reach their full academic potential.

G/T Nomination Forms are below, or they may be requested from the campus counselor or District Coordinator for Advanced Academics,  Missy Eichman at meichman@cocisd.org.
