Students
Parents or guardians shall screen their child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms before allowing them to report to campus each day. The self-screening includes taking their child’s temperature and checking for symptoms that could be COVID-19.
Symptomatic or positive for COVID-19
In accordance with TEA Public Health Guidance and this Dept. of State Health Services (DSHS) rule, school systems must exclude students from attending school in person who are actively sick with COVID-19, who are suspected of being actively sick with COVID-19, or who have received a positive test result for COVID-19.
Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is test-confirmed with COVID-19, and they must notify the campus clinic as soon as possible. Students may not return to campus until the conditions for re-entry are met.
Staff
Each day, every COCISD staff member is required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before reporting to any district facility. The self-screening includes staff members taking their temperature and checking for symptoms that could be COVID-19 related.
If a staff member has COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, he or she must not report to work but should contact their supervisor and enter the absence into WillSub. If they have received a positive test, they must also notify the Health Services Department at 936-653-1150 or email nurse@cocisd.org.
Similar to students, school systems must exclude staff from attending school/work in person who are actively sick with COVID-19, who are suspected of being actively sick with COVID-19, or who have received a positive test result for COVID-19. Staff may return to work when the re-entry conditions have been met.
