Welcome Back for the 2022-23 School Year!

  • Greetings Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Students, Parents/Guardians, and Community Members,

It is with tremendous excitement that I welcome everyone back for the 2022-2023 school year as we continue to put the worst of COVID-19 behind us and return to normalcy! We had a very successful traditional school year last year with 170 in-person instructional days, which had a substantial impact on student achievement and allowed us to close learning gaps. We aim to keep that momentum going this year!

We hope you had a wonderful summer break and are reenergized and ready to embark on an exhilarating new school year. We excitedly anticipate having students back on campuses livening the hallways and filling our classrooms with their creative minds and unyielding enthusiasm. We also look forward to establishing, building upon, and sustaining productive partnerships with each of you to ensure our students are provided with a rich academic program that actively engages them in the learning process, challenges their intellect, and nurtures their development to ensure they acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in subsequent grade level courses, post-secondary settings and beyond.

The health and safety of our students and staff is always our utmost priority. As we prepare to kick off the 2022-2023 school year let us continue to practice good hygiene and respiratory etiquette to prevent and reduce the spread of any infectious diseases in our school community. Moreover, please note the additional safety measures implemented across our district designed to ensure the protection of students and staff, located on the district website at cocisd.org > Families > Safety & Security. Thanks in advance for your support of our efforts!

COCISD has enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who are committed to developing the individual strengths and gifts of students through providing captivating learning experiences, implementing research-based instructional practices that foster critical thinking, and using student performance data to ensure the continuation of their academic growth and progress through identifying and targeting areas of needed improvement. It is our mission to help every student feel welcome, safe, connected, and a part of the COCISD community.

Our goal is to keep the lines of communication open with you by posting all pertinent information on the district and campus websites at www.cocisd.org and utilizing all other district mediums to send out school-related information via phone callouts, email, and text messaging. We hope you find our updated website useful and informative. Additionally, we have a Facebook account @COCISD that we aim to use to send out quick announcements and updates regarding district/campus events and information.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns via email at btaulton@cocisd.org or 936.653.1115. I am honored to serve as your superintendent of schools and feel very fortunate to work in COCISD. We have the best teachers in San Jacinto County, outstanding students, and most importantly, loving parents. What a powerful combination! Without further ado… I would like to welcome all of our new and returning students for another extraordinary school year. See you soon! Let’s have a remarkable school year!

    With gratitude and appreciation,

    Dr. Bryan T. Taulton
