Technology for the 2020-21 School Year

  • COCISD is dedicated to providing our students with all the educational tools and supports needed to succeed.

This year, we have enough electronic devices for every student in the district who needs one. This applies to at-home learners, as well as any student on campus who may need a device. Due to the current pandemic, there is no fee to check out a device. Parents will need to show ID to sign for the devices.

    • Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be issued iPads.
    • Students in grades 3-12 will be issued Chromebooks for use throughout the 2020/2021 school year.

We will provide wifi "hotspots" to checkout for online students who don't have internet services at their homes. This will make connectivity accessible to the majority of our students. NOTE: All of the school’s devices and hotspots will have restricted measures in place and content filtering on them in order to stay in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

There are areas in the COCISD school district boundaries that do not have the capability of receiving internet. At this time, we are working on possible solutions to this problem, including the possibility of "Park & Learn" sites for remote areas. Until an effective solution is found, students who live in those areas will need to opt for on-campus learning.

Electronic device checkout for online students

The last and final pick-up day for Online students is this Friday, Sept. 4, at the high school cafeteria from 1 to 4 p.m. This will be for those who completed the online survey and stated they will be online learners and need devices.

This will also be the last opportunity to return the wifi hotspots that were picked up on Monday, Aug. 17, to exchange for working devices. The hotspots only need to be returned if they were picked up SPECIFICALLY on Monday, Aug. 17.

Electronic device checkout for on-campus students

Students who will be on campus this year will be able to check out electronic devices after school starts.
