The Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve Dr. Leland Moore as the new superintendent in a special-called meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
“Dr. Moore brings the experience and vision needed to lead the district and embrace the community,” said Board President Barbara Moore. “We are excited to have him as our new superintendent.”
With over 35 years of experience in education, 18 years as a superintendent, Dr. Moore began his career as an agriculture teacher before moving on to campus administration and eventually district administration. In addition to his years of service in education, Moore has also been a successful rancher and businessman in rural Texas. He said he is looking forward to being a part of the COCISD family.
“I am extremely happy because this feels like home,” said Moore. “I was born and raised in this part of Texas, so I especially appreciate the community of Coldspring because it does feel like home.”
Moore has served as interim superintendent since July, and was named lone finalist for the permanent position in January. He said it is an honor to be the Board’s choice for the job.
“There is a lot of work to be done, we know that, but there is also a lot of potential here, a lot of possibilities,” said Moore. “We have a great team that believes in putting the needs of students first, and I look forward to a long tenure with them. I have reached the final destination in my career.”
